Why eat healthy foods?

Why eat healthy foods you may ask? Well eating healthy foods doesn’t just improve your physical state, it also improves your mental state. When eating junk food, there is most likely a high sugar and sodium content. When you ingest large amounts of sugar and sodium you can feel very down, tired, and maybe even sore. Sugar can make you tired because there is something called a sugar high. You may just think it’s something in your imagination but it’s not. In the real world these sugar highs are more like sugar sedatives. Orexin is a brain chemical that keeps you feeling awake. When you ingest sugar orexin is inhibited. By eating less sugar and healthier foods such as, vegetables, fruits, and nuts you will feel more alert during the day and sleep better at night. Your brain needs food too! Eating healthier gives your brain the proper food it needs to function. When eating healthier choices there are foods that naturally detox your body. This allows your body systems to function at their optimum.  Healthy foods provide the nutrients that your body needs to perform on a daily basis, and once again allowing all your systems to be working at their optimum.  These nutrients also feed your brain and allows you to have a more positive outlook on life and other things. Healthier choices also improve your physical state. For example, spinach and kale help improve your vision. In the end, healthier choices are the way to go!
